it seems clear to me that bush and sharon want a world war.

sharon, spineless coward that he is in person, would not have dared assassinate ahmed yassin without receiving the go-ahead from the u.s.

assassinating yassin will exacerbate the situation in palestine, it will lead to more palestinians wanting to kill israelis, which in turn will lead to an even more brutal response by the israelis. all of this will lead to someone, somewhere deciding that enough is enough and nuking an israeli city.

bush and sharon will then have exactly what they want: israel will launch an all-out nuclear strike against palestine, pakistan or another islamic country with nukes will retaliate, the u.s. will retaliate against pakistan etc and the rest of us will fry.

what a pleasure : teenagers who stand for hope, sanity and decency.

monbiot correct again : gm food is all about corporations controlling the food chain.

we must resist this.

we must destroy every single one of these crops that's grown anywhere in the world.

the alternative is fascistic bastards charging for their intellectual property(food as ip!?!?!?!?!?!?) for every mouthful we take.

is that really what we need on this planet? don't the greedy cunts already make more money than they can use?

don't we owe it to our children to let them as a whole own the planet, rather than a select few whose parents own a current few patents?

make your own mind up. i've made up mine and gm crops are on my digging-up and chopping-down list.

bush went to war to line his family's pockets.

makes even more sense than the need to stop iraq trading oil in euros instead of dollars and / or gaining control of iraq's oil reserves, therefore, it's probable that a combination of those things is the real reason for the war.

it's time this little scum-bag and his fascistic handlers in the whitehouse were al impeached and, ideally, imprisoned indefinitely - perhaps at guantanamo bay as 'enemy combatants- it's as real as the accusations against the men they're currently holding there.

bliar and bush behaved as if they were on a 'witch hunt'.

that perfectly sums up the mentality of these two men: incapable of reasoned debate, they bluster and shout-down opponents, then claim a 'victory' like the stupid, idiotic school bullies i'm sure they both were.

they are both suffering extreme personality disorders and really should be removed from office so that they can get treatment before their behaviour starts to harm them or others - oops, too late for that, they've already killed at least 10,000 innocent iraqis. they clearly need to be taken into custody before their offending behavious gets completely out of hand and they end up destroying the planet in their never ending war on terrorTM.

just another day in palestine under the israeli jack-boot.

given that each new superstore that opens destroys an average 247 jobs in its vicinity, b&q's opening of 20 stores creating 3500 jobs, will destroy 4940 jobs.

net gain : -1440 jobs.

now that's really something to look forward to.

strawman, in pakistan to speak to a dictator who is prepared to sell nuclear arms to anyone who wants them, says we must be careful about al qaida, 'cos they're the greatest threat we face.

he also says we can't learn from history, that bliar's view is : "what he is essentially saying is that we must not judge the challenges of the future against the standards of the past. he talks about the international community being in mortal danger if we think that the world in the future or now is similar to how it was in the past."

so, there we have it. we must arm ourselves to the teeth because of a tiny threat from a small band of terrorists, but we must stand by and watch a dictator selling nuclear arms (they've been offered to nigeria recently); we can learn nothing from history and everything is different now from the way it was in the past.

this man is a complete moron.

pakistan's nuclear weapons are a far greater threat to us and to pakistan's neighbours than al qaida could ever be. our own nuclear weapons make us a target and we shoud destroy them. the world is not any different now to how it's been in the past - it's still run by politicians like strawman and bliar who will take all our freedoms away from us at the drop of a hat, and who must be removed from power because they have been completely corrupted by that power.

why has it taken until now for sportswear companies to say they'll investigate oxfam's allegations that their goods are made in sweatshops?

oxfam and other charities have been saying this for years (i can remember first becoming aware of it in the 1980s), so why have they waited until now?

couldn't be that they fear that their plans for cashing-in on the olympics may be in jeopardy if the public think they're run by a bunch of heartless shits, so they'll make a fuss now, sack a few producers to make themselves look like they're people who give a fuck and, thus, divert the public's attention from the fact that they've knowingly used these cruel, money-grasping, exploitative cunts to produce their clothing for years and years, could it?

raff ellis: religion and logic often go their separate ways.

john chuckman's excellent article, 'ralph nader: an enemy of the people' shows the really frightening parallels between the corporatist world and orwell's 1984.

george monbiot, once again, gets right to the heart of an issue and comes up with the only plausible solution.

the problem : blair's continuing lies and war crimes.

the solution : hound him out of office using direct action.

why does it so often take political writers a long, long time to catch up with what the public are saying?

for many years, my friends and i have been lamenting the fact that there is no difference between 'new' labour and the tories: that all 'new' labour policies are tory policies, that 'new' labour politicians behave and sound like tory politicians, that 'new' labour cannot be distinguished from the tory party by anything other than its name.

paul foot seems to have only just noticed it.
